Ray’s Legacy of Leadership

About This Blog

Interface has lost a great leader and a friend in Ray Anderson. He was a friend, mentor and an inspiration to me for over 17 years, as well as to thousands of other associates throughout Interface Companies and to so many others outside our company including customers – “that next heartbeat,” as he would call them.

Through his vision and leadership, Interface, our industry, and many companies outside of our industry are on a far better and more sustainable path today. Ray embodied The Power of One — the positive influence one person can have on a company, industry and the world. In doing so, he demonstrated courage at a time when our company and the world truly needed it. We remain committed to fulfilling Ray’s vision of sustainability for many years to come.

We can all take great solace in the fact that Ray has inspired us more than we could have ever imagined when he experienced his “Spear in the Chest” moment in 1994 and that all of us together continue to live out and honor his vision and great legacy as we strive toward reaching Mission Zero. We now stand on Ray’s shoulders and strive to build upon his amazing legacy.

    Lovely words, John.

  2. Steve Arbaugh Says:

I met Ray 13 years ago when, over lunch, he explained his Commitment to Sustainability and his belief that Change Happens One Person at a Time.

Following this he reached millions of people inside and outside of his own industry via Continual Thought Leadership, Speaking Engagements, Book Plublishing and Films.

He stayed the course and provided inspiration for all who met and worked with him.
